Yesterday I turned in my application for admission, financial aide application, and declaration of a major to Dallas Christian College. Yup, I’m going Back To School…
I think “back” to school is really a poorly used term. The truth is i pretty much dropped out of school after 1 semester of Community College, so that shouldn’t really count. I digress…
I’m doing whats called the Quest Program and declared a BA in Ministry and Leadership as my major. With this program, going only once a week, I will have my BA in the standard 4 years even if none of my credits transfer. I’m also going to try to test out of some classes and write essays to receive life credit. Realistically, I’m not expecting to be able to test out of anything, but I am hoping and praying I can. It would save a lot of money if I can.
I could potentially receive my BA in 2 years even without any transfer/life credit, but that would mean going twice a week, 4 hours per class, plus a large amount of homework. I’m definitely not doing that this fall, but may consider it going forward. If I do that, though, a lot of things would have to change to allow sufficient family time. I’m not going to think about that right now.
It’s not cheap… and even though my work reimburses, they will not reimburse for this Major. I might catch some flack for not going for a generic business major (which would be reimbursed at a 90% clip) and focusing on a ministry degree later, but my heart and aspirations are for ministry… If i’m going to have to work hard to do this, it’s going to be in a program that I can enjoy.
I’m really looking forward to getting the school year up and running. Early august. Pray for me.
Good luck. We’re praying for you.
that sounds exciting! we’ll have to chat more about it…i know that it is my turn to initiate a call…and i will…just caught up in the last week of class and finals
yeah, i was very close to calling you a few days ago… you’d have been in a world of hurt.
