The Rangers are pretty much the only game in town now. I mean, i’ve got FC Dallas, but i think i’m the only non-Hispanic that follows them.  So, the rangers are on pace for 98 losses - i.e. - abysmal. But imagine what could’ve been with this line up… All of these players were a part of the Rangers within the last 5 years (bold is still with the team):

CF - Gary Matthews Jr (.292, 5 SB, Gold Glove caliber)
1B - Adrian Gonzalez (.288, 2nd in NL in HR and RBI)
SS - Alex Rodriguez (.352, 15 HR, 39 RBIs - Amazing pace of 191 RBIs for the year)
LF - Carlos Lee (.287, leads NL in RBI)
DH - Travis Hafner (.279, 7hr, 24rbi - top 8 in 4 Offensive Categories)
2B - Ian Kinsler (.264, 9 HR, 24 RBI - Top 8 in 3 Off. Cat.)
3B - Hank Blalock (.284, 2 HR, 12 RBI)

RF - Alfonso Soriano (.312 after a slow start)
C - Ivan Rodriguez (.254, 3 hr, 15 rbis - outstanding defense)

So… what about pitching?
Chris Young - 4-2, 3.29 ERA
Coco Cordero - 15 saves (tops in league) 0.54 ERA (yikes!) 23 SO in 16 inn.

Oh, and BTW, Doug Melvin, whom the Rangers fired, is GM of the Brewers who just happen to have the best record in Baseball… THE BREWERS!

Anyway, like i said, Dallas sports = disappointment and underachievers.

  1. well with Adrian Gonzalez and hafner, I dont think they wanted to split up the core of the infield. Nor did they want to replace Texieria.

When they made the trade for Carlos Lee, I think they all knew he was going to sign with another team.

Alex Rodriguez was probably the worst deal in sports history. Too much money, too many problems. Im still baffled at that contract. And if you are goin gto pay him that much then make him play on your team regardless.

I liked Pudge, they really shouldnt have let him go.

Soriano was a case like A-Rods where he didnt really want to play here, but of course the Rangers have horrible management so they couldnt figure out a deal to make it work.

Gary Matthews wanted more money, and now that hes been linked to steriods, it wasnt so bad that hes gone, and Kenny Lofton has 12 SB’s.

All in all i see your point. At the End of the year A-rod and Soriano will probably be ranked #1 and #2 in stats, its just sad to see management waste those opportunities.
