I had a meeting with the Academic department and Financial Aide department at Dallas Christian College yesterday. Things went better than expected, seeing as the acceptance letter including some verbiage similar to “since you’re previous college history sucked, you’re going to take the classes we tell you to take” or some such. The meeting was actually a bit more laid back than that and I had quite a bit of input in what I’d like to take this fall; in fact we barely even touched on my previous academic record.

I assured the advisor that I had matured (so, i stretched the truth there a little) and wouldn’t have the same motivation problems I had when I was last in college and we moved on. So, here’s the lineup for this fall:

DCC Intro - This is a 1 Credit hour class that is only three weeks. Basically gets new Quest students acclimated to how things will work.
Composition 1* - Oh Joy! Lots of writing! Online Class, so that’s good
Composition 2* - Oh Joy! More intense writing! Online Class.
How To Study The Bible - On Campus. Advisor told me this is actually a very intensive class, but it will make the “survey” classes so much easier. Looking forward to this one.

So, 10 Credit hours. This is a little low to finish in four years (my hope) but plenty to start with. My hope is that I am able to work hard and not struggle too much with the workload. If this is the case I plan on taking two Online Classes and three Campus Classes starting in the spring (15 Hours), which, along with 2 summer classes every year (6 hours), will put me on pace to finish my Undergrad in spring of 2011, a few months before I turn 30. Considering I only have two … Yes TWO!… transferable hours from previous college, getting a fully accredited BA in 4 years while working full-time and raising a family is a pretty good pace.

Oh, and i was able to get about 30% of this semester and next paid for by grants, so the first part of my loan won’t be near as high as anticipated. Thank God.

* I actually like writing, so this shouldn’t be a big deal, but you never know with “college” courses what kind of essays are going to required.
