Cliff Hanger: a melodramatic adventure in which each installment ends in suspense in order to interest the reader or viewer in the next installment.

It was a Sunday morning like most he had experienced over the past several months and like many more he had experienced over years of playing his part in various local churches’ worship scene; rise early, pack up gear and head off to church hours before his family would even stir themselves awake. The evening before left Jay a bit groggy but the feeling was something he had grown accustomed to… a few hours of good clean sober fun at Dave & Buster’s, letting the endorphins fade via Pro Evo Soccer 2007 until midnight, and a roll in the proverbial hay to cap the night.

This particular Sunday morning only differed by a simple decision of which weapon to use for the morning’s service. The Washburn or the Mitchell. Granted, he had chosen the Washburn any time it was available as it is obviously the superior choice so the decision was not a very difficult one at all. The Washburn had recently returned from an expedition to Mexico, donned by it’s rightful owner who had returned the Axe just one night previous.

Upon arriving at his destination, the setup began and Jay was suddenly struck with a feeling that something may be amiss with the chosen Axe. As it lay enclosed in its cased it seemed to call to him, nay… taunt him. Deep in thought, it came to him “AHH! The strap probably isn’t in the case! Oh well, I will have to sit when I normally stand but all will be well” … If only Jay knew…

The pre-setup setup was complete and the time had come to “unleash the beast.” Click-Clack… One latch down… Click-Clack… and another… three more to follow and Jay would wield his chosen axe…

“ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!”

The strap, which was indeed in the case, was the least of his problems; alas the Axe lay powerless… Strings removed, naked, and empty. It had been reduced to a polished piece of wood that brought zero value to the situation on hand…

And Jay scrambled to find a way to make it work.

  1. Whoa! Naked guitars. Is this PG-13?
