Text-Fessional for 07/22/07

Our Bassist is AWOL. Maybe he went on vacation and forgot to tell us. I will have to inquire further. On a side note, my first band was called “AWOL” it meant whatever I wanted it to mean at the moment people asked… such as “A Word of Life” or “A Word of Love” or “Another White Owl’s Life”. We opened up for Darrell Evans once, which, at the time, included a young stud named Lincoln Brewster on guitar. I pee my pants thinking about it ’cause I *heart* Lincoln and he actually gave me some advice i’ll never forget. But I’m not telling you what he said. On to Sunday.

Unfailing Love (Hillsongs) - A - ht: Aaron. I love me this song and I saw it on Aaron’s blog last week and had to do it. We started with it. It was scrumptious. One time I wanted to start with “You Alone” by DC*B with no instruments other than acoustic and vocals, but my drummer played anyway. This time I told him if he plays I will remove his left tes…. nevermind (this was confessed in X:Worship 9 but X:Worship 9 was never put online). So I ran through it from top to bottom, then through the first verse again and the pre-chorus again… then let it fade into…

My Glorious (Deliriou5?) - B - Will I ever get tired of this song? Yes I will. The time is coming soon. It’s goodness, but I think I will take a break from it for a while. But going from Unfailing Love into My Glorious was pretty nice. Everyone likes to do the chorus of this song real soft and then go into the rocking part (which I never do, I pretty much just start it rocking), but that has become so predictable. It was nice to do something different. This is the first time I’ve EVER played acoustic on this song and it works fine. Not quite as fun for me, but Josh is better than me on the electric anyway, so more power to him. And I didn’t swing the bridge like some people say I do.

Beautiful One (Hughes) - G -I sense personal burnout is drawing neigh on this one as well. Nothing special to report as how it relates to Sunday though. Perhaps if I didn’t sing it and just played electric, then I can enjoy it. But, eh… whatever.

You Are My King (Amazing Love) (Billy Foote? passion guy) - D- Oldie but a goodie. Had nice building / dynamics. Josh played some greatness on guitar. We all smiled and hugged at the end. Okay the last  part didn’t happen, but it was pretty nice.

oh but there was one problem…

Everything seemed loud to me. I was told it wasn’t too loud. Perhaps.

Oh and another problem…

I really don’t get any feedback from anyone but Amy. Her feedback is valuable and very helpful during practice (especially with the vocals), but it’d be nice if some of the other leaders, students, or, heck, I dunno, the Youth Pastor-ish guys (dunno what to really call them… they’re interns… and we dont have a full time guy) had something to say every now and then.

* Not sure how to describe this mood I’m in, but it made for an un-orthodox confessional this week. *

One Response to “X:Worship 13”

  1. Baxter said “what was the inspiration this week?”
Apparently we were better than usual.

    How’s that for feedback?
