Goodbye Hi, Hello Low

I must say I’m not sure most of us really are as busy as we claim, rather I think we tend to keep ourselves busy with things we enjoy. Relaxing and enjoying life is essential to our overall emotional and spiritual health, but if we really analyzed what we are doing on a daily basis, there probably is some room to accomplish more. Usually this comes through sacrifice. When a new thing is added to our “busy” life, we must find something to sacrifice in order to keep some semblance of balance.

I am finding that the sacrifice for me has been this blog. As stated recently, most of my blogging is done at work. I know… great use of company time… (and to think, it would be very easy for my coworkers, and more importantly my superiors,  to find and read this thing). It’s really not that I do not have the time to post during the day. Last week was a little busy as I was learning some new processes to pick up the slack from an abruptly lost team member, but for the most part things are as steady and even-paced as they have been.

I think the main internal push to push posting aside comes from the fact that I now spend most of my evenings reading and writing already. We are required to participate heavily in discussion boards, keep journals (online), read from textbooks, write essays, and so on and so forth. I very much enjoy writing and reading, but as I spent my evening last night studying and trying to get ahead for the week, I realized that the high that comes with the first week of a new journey (last week) quickly wears off.

As long as I stay balanced I’ll be okay. I also spent part of last night hanging out with my daughters, eating dinner as a family, getting in a decent amount of “me-time” and a decent amount of “us-time” with the wife.

I’ve already made a few acquaintances that I hope will become lasting friendships. I’m really enjoying the focus these professors put on my spiritual life. Imagine that, a Christian college that cares about the person rather than the money.

So, i’m changing things up around here to reflect the current mood and  situation I’m in… nothing major, mainly just the layout, but I have some other thoughts i’m toying with as well. At the very least I hope to have the opportunity to post some essays and shed some light on what i’m reading and learning.

Thus, the honeymoon is over and the real journey has begun.
