It’s not that difficult to mistake many of the Red Hot Chili Peppers lyrics especially if you only hear the song occassionaly over the air waves like myself (i.e. – i like them but I don’t have any of their albums). Well, the chorus of Dani California has a way of getting stuck in my head. These are the CORRECT lyrics of the chorus (@ 0:54 in the vid):

For the longest time I thought the first line of the chorus was “California rescue me” … and, as a casual listener, i didn’t pick up on the second line very quickly. So even though I knew it was wrong, my messed up head decided to sing:
California rescue me
From venereal disease
Eventually I knew the correct lyrics, but it never fails that when the song does get stuck in my head I can’t help but sing it my old, incorrect way unless I concentrate…
Let me tell you, it’s really annoying to incessantly ask a state in my head to save me from an STD…
Don’t worry, the fan in the red/white shirt @1:09-1:15 doesn’t know the lyrics either!
