First of all, i think it’s a bit ridiculous. The craze that is… Don’t get me wrong, i’d take one for free over what I have. But, it’s a freakin’ phone. Nonetheless these national crazes always produce some sort of GOLD… this one came straight out of my backyard basically (nationally speaking i guess)…

How do you and /or  your church get the message out about your core values? Mission / vision statements? Series covering the core thoughts? T-Shirts? This is our church’s vision, i like it for the most part:

The Vision of Firewheel Bible Fellowshipis to give every un-churched, de-churched, or badly churched man, woman, and child in the Firewheel Corridor the chance to experience the life changing power of Jesus Christ through the lips and the lives of the people of Firewheel Bible Fellowship.

I doubt any of it can rival this at Epiphany Fellowship.

It helps that one of the pastors is The Ambassador.

Thanks to The Kiesch for the heads up on the YouTube embed problem. While i dont like the current solution, i’ll survive.

Another week down, and things continue to improve. There was a lot more energy this week from the band (including myself) and the students. This is a good thing with one exception… The energy got the best of me and at times I ignored everything I learned about singing and it was a bit “yell-ish.” Especially on Sweep Me Away, which is disappointing, but alas, such is life. Filming has really helped me catch a few of these things that I might otherwise miss.

I personally think the video confessionals are improving as well; no longer just me sitting there boring everyone to death. But, maybe it’s just me… Tristen has a special message starting around the 5:30 mark.

Oh, and, this angle is worse than last week’s angle. and I’m wearing a black hat so it almost looks like I don’t have a head.

Line Up (key):
All To You (Lincoln Brewster) - E
Not To Us (Chris Tomlin) - B
Sweep Me Away (Charlie Hall) - Played in B, Voiced in E (i think … my theory is failing me at this point)Team List is on the video. Usual suspects.

Worship Confessional for June 10th, 2007.

I actually kept it under 6 Minutes! With service clips and everything!

Couple of things I didn’t get in the video for various reasons:
* So, the weird thing is that it looks like we only have two people in our youth room at the time, but alas, we had about 20 when we started and 35-40 when worship was over. So why only those two girls show up in the video is beyond me… luck of the camera angle i guess.
* Usually young drummers tend to push tempo. This week, we dragged a little on Blessed Be Your Name and Give Us Clean Hands.
* After watching the raw video, I decided I don’t like layering the end of Give Us Clean Hands.
* We Are Hungry is awesome because you play the same thing for every part of the song, and while that’s boring when you want to have fun, it’s greatness when you just want to worship or lead others to worship.

Line up - Key:
Blessed Be Your Name - B
Your Grace Is Enough - A
Give Us Clean Hands - G
Reflective: We Are Hungry - G

Players - Instrument:
Courtney - Vox
James - Drums
Travis - Bass
Jeremy - Vox / Acoustic

Confess yo’self.

Okay, so, I video’d. It didn’t turn out great, but it did give me some things to work on and allow me to critique the set / band / myself. So I do mix some in here, but please realize that this is at the back of a warehouse-style room with a consumer line video camera and as you can see, the mix doesn’t always… well… mix well on the video.

The Line Up:
My Glorious - A
Beautiful One - A
Hungry - C
Only Grace - A

The Mates:
Court / Faith - Vox
J-Dub - Guitar / Vox
Travis - Slaps
James - Sticks (when appropriate)

Enjoy

This, i guess, is what confessionals are really all about. Waking up early on a saturday morning and by the time you get out of the shower, you realize you’ve kinda screwed up somewhere along the way recently… nothing major, but significant, if that even makes sense. So here’s the prequel to the normal confessional to come after tomorrow’s service, blair witch style.

and… no, i wont tell you the joke referenced early in the video

Work has been busy. We had people out and I back up basically everyone, so I was doing two people’s jobs, sometimes three. Therefore, slow on posts since most of my posts are done while slacking at work. Anyway, I plan on filming worship confessional numero 4 tonight and posting it tonight. Until then, here’s a video i sliced together last week. (footage from about 3 months ago).

(ht: Rick) Street Interview Vids. First watch this:

(Copyright 2007 Orchard Valley Community Church, Aurora, IL www.orchardvalleyonline.com info@orchardvalleyonline.com

There is no doubt that many people have ill-feelings towards “Christians,” but my problem with Street Interview Vids is that the responses are hand picked to make the point you want to make. We could probably take the raw footage of these interviews and just as easily switch the roles.

There were probably a few responses to “Christians” that were kind and positive, and probably just as many responses to “Jesus” that were not so kind.

Case in point: It was interesting to see some of the same people respond in very different ways, but notice we also see quite a few new faces in the “Christian” section. These new faces very likely had a negative or at best neutral reaction to “Jesus” as well.

BTW, did i really hear someone say “Texas” as a response to “Christians” … that is pretty freakin’ hilarious (in the sense that I smiled… eh.. .whatever). I imagine it’s totally different growing up outside the Bible Belt, but that’s just funny. And, no, we “Christian Texans” don’t Car Pool to church… We HorsePool, wear 10 Gallon Hats, and have spurs on ALL our shoes, not just our boots. :P
